Two consecutive years of faith formation are required by the Archdiocese before reception of a sacrament. Teens will not automatically become candidates for Confirmation simply because they are in a certain grade. They need to fulfill the requirements of the previous grade before registering. Below is a general outline of the immediate sacrament preparation. Details are provided at the sacrament parent meetings.
* Parent Meeting
* Signed Contract
* Participating at Mass
* One Parent/Sponsor Meeting with Teen
* Confirmation Interviews
* Retreat
* Twenty Hours of Service
The Confirmation candidates, will be gathering once a month in the school building. They will go directly to their classrooms with their catechists. Parents are encouraged to attend the adult session of the faith formation session in the gym, especially when we have speakers. We use Google Classroom for the monthly at home assignments, videos, and additional resources. We will have an in person retreat and an additional gathering. These will be provided under a separate cover.
The monthly Confirmation Gatherings are offered on Sunday from 9:15am - 10:45am followed by Mass at 11:00am or on Monday from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM.
Jesus lived a life of service to others. He fed the hungry, brought healing to the sick and consoled those who were sad. He expects us, his followers, to continue his mission of service wherever we are needed. For this reason every Christian should be involved in regular service to others.
Confirmation candidates are asked to do at least 20 hours of service in preparation for Confirmation. A summary report of your service commitment will be required. This service shows that the candidate is ready to live up to the Christian responsibility of helping those who need us.
1. Candidates are encouraged to choose their own service projects. However, each project must be approved by the Faith Formation Office prior to performing the service in order to ensure that the project is acceptable and the hours will count towards your required service. Therefore each candidate should describe his or her planned service on the My Proposed Service Project(s) Form and submit to the Faith Formation Office as soon as possible. Service projects must be approved by the Faith Formation Office before started.
2. As each service project is completed, please submit a Summary of Service Report.
3. All service hours and the Summary of Service Report(s) must be completed.
